Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Islamic educational thought of Ibn Taymiyyah and its relevance to the development of contemporary Islamic education. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a library research methodology. Data were gathered through an examination of the works of Ibn Taymiyyah, books on Islamic education, and scholarly articles concerning Islamic educational thought and practice. A descriptive-analytical method was applied to identify the philosophical foundations, educational objectives, concepts of educators and learners, curriculum, and teaching methods as articulated by Ibn Taymiyyah. The findings indicate that Ibn Taymiyyah’s educational thought is rooted in *tawhid* (monotheism), the Quran, and the Sunnah, emphasizing the integration of knowledge, faith, and action. Education, in this view, is not merely aimed at developing intellectual capacity but also at shaping the faith, character, and personality of the learner. His ideas remain relevant to contemporary Islamic education, particularly in the areas of character education, the integration of knowledge with religious values, the cultivation of educators with integrity, and the development of pedagogical approaches that bridge knowledge with practical life. Consequently, Ibn Taymiyyah’s thought can serve as a conceptual framework for building an Islamic educational system oriented toward the development of individuals who are knowledgeable, faithful, and possess noble character.
