Implementation of Virtual Observation in Analyzing Educational Institution Quality Based on SPMI Through The PPEPP Approach at MTs Ummul Quro

This study examines the representation of educational quality at MTs Ummul Quro through its official website using a virtual observation approach based on the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) and the PPEPP cycle (Determination, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement). A mixed descriptive method was employed, combining quantitative and qualitative analyses. Data were collected through digital observation and documentation using five assessment dimensions: transparency, academic services, quality evidence, institutional activities, and evaluation. The findings indicate that the website achieved a score of 37 out of 80 (46.25%), placing it in the “Fair” category. Transparency received the highest score, demonstrating the availability of institutional information such as the school profile, vision and mission, and organizational structure. In contrast, the evaluation dimension received the lowest score due to the limited availability of quality reports, feedback mechanisms, complaint systems, and continuous improvement information. From the SPMI perspective, the website reflects institutional transparency and educational activities but provides insufficient evidence of evaluation, quality control, and continuous improvement practices. Analysis based on the PPEPP framework shows that the Determination and partial Implementation stages are represented, whereas the Evaluation, Control, and Improvement stages remain underrepresented. This study highlights the potential of virtual observation as an alternative approach to assessing educational quality through digital platforms and emphasizes the need to strengthen website-based quality assurance to enhance transparency, accountability, and public trust.
